Archdiocese of Chicago to Host the NCEA 2019 Convention & Expo

Thousands of Catholic educators expected to gather for professional development opportunities, connect with others, acquire new knowledge and grow in faith

Arlington, VA – The National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA) today announced that planning is underway for the NCEA 2019 Convention & Expo to take place in Chicago, Illinois from April 23 - 25.  With a backdrop of Lake Michigan, the John Hancock Center and renowned museums, Chicago will be the gathering place for thousands of Catholic school leaders and educators in 2019.

“I am very grateful to Cardinal-elect Cupich for his support of NCEA 2019 in Chicago, and for the wonderful work of Dr. Jim Rigg, superintendent of Catholic schools for the Archdiocese of Chicago,” said Dr. Thomas W. Burnford, NCEA president/CEO. “I can’t wait to gather with so many thousands of Catholic school teachers and leaders from around the country in the faith-filled city of Chicago.”

The NCEA 2019 Convention & Expo will be held at McCormick Place, the largest convention center in North America and sited on and near Lake Michigan.  The last time the NCEA Convention & Expo was held in Chicago was 1989.

"We are thrilled to host the NCEA 2019 Convention & Expo in Chicago," said Dr. Rigg. "We are enormously proud of the history and quality of our 217 Catholic schools, which serve more than 78,000 students. The NCEA Convention & Expo's presence in Chicago illustrates the strength of Catholic education in greater Chicago and we look forward to sharing  our wonderful city with thousands of Catholic educators from across the country."

The NCEA Convention & Expo is the largest, private-education association gathering in the country.  Participants come from many avenues of Catholic school education, including elementary and secondary school teachers, superintendents, principals, presidents and board members. The event features more than 250 professional development sessions, carefully prepared liturgies, networking events and an expo hall showcasing the latest educational products and services.

“Chicago and McCormick Place have a long, rich history of hosting some of our nation’s, and often the world’s, most important meetings.  It is especially gratifying when we can host an organization whose mission and great work are also so impactful, and there could not be a better example than welcoming thousands of delegates attending NCEA 2019,” said David Whitaker, president  & CEO of Choose Chicago.  “We are especially grateful of the leadership and enthusiasm supporting our bid demonstrated by Cardinal-elect Cupich and Dr. Rigg, as well as all of those involved in Chicago’s Archdiocese.  We will make them very proud hosts of this significant event for our community and our hospitality industry.”

The NCEA 2017 Convention & Expo will take place in St Louis, Missouri from April 18 - 20, and in 2018, the Convention & Expo will be held from April 3 – 5 in Cincinnati, Ohio.  For more information visit click HERE
