St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Awards
NCEA's Seton Award was created to honor those individuals whose personal or professional philanthropy or volunteer service has impacted Catholic education in particular or U.S. education and our country's youth in general. Named after Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton in recognition of her lifelong dedication to teaching, those receiving Seton Awards have a $1,000 scholarship presented in their honor to a deserving Catholic school student from their community.
Awardees are selected by a committee chaired by NCEA's president, Dr. Karen Ristau. The committee uses the following guidelines in their selection process:
-
As a national Catholic educational honor, award nominees' contribution(s) to education and/or to youth should be deemed as major and far reaching.
-
The NCEA Seton Award is open to an individual of any race, creed or religious persuasion.
-
Past awardees, current NCEA employees and members of the NCEA Board of Directors are not eligible
-
Awardees are required to attend the Seton Awards Gala typically held during the first week of October in Washington, DC, and are asked to accept this honor in person.
