NCEA Congratulates the 2024 National Blue Ribbon Catholic Schools

Thirty-three of the 40 non-public schools recognized as National Blue Ribbon Schools are Catholic elementary and secondary schools.

Arlington, VA – The National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA) salutes the 33 Catholic schools designated as 2024 National Blue Ribbon Schools by the U.S. Department of Education.

“Catholic schools making up more than 80 percent of the private schools recognized as Blue Ribbon Schools this year are a testament to the unwavering dedication of our teachers and the academic excellence of our schools,” said Dr. Steven F. Cheeseman, NCEA President/CEO. “By respecting the dignity of each student and recognizing the unique gifts they bring, we see results that faithfully reflect the mission of Catholic education.”

U.S. Secretary of Education, Miguel A. Cardona, announced on September 23 that 316 public schools and 40 non-public/private schools were awarded the coveted National Blue Ribbon Schools for 2024 based on overall academic excellence or progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups. Secretary Cardona remarked that these schools “set a national example for what it means to raise the bar in education.” Representatives from each school are invited to the awards ceremony on November 7 and 8 in Washington, D.C.

The 316 public and 40 private schools represent elementary, middle and high schools, including traditional, charter, magnet schools, parochial and independent schools in 46 states, the District of Columbia, a Department of Defense Education Activity school and the Virgin Islands. Private schools are nominated by the Council for American Private Education (CAPE). Applications for non-public schools for the 2025 National Blue Ribbon Schools Award can be found on the CAPE website.
