Speak Up Research Project for Digital Learning

NCEA is excited to be partnering with Project Tomorrow to facilitate participation by Catholic arch/dioceses, religious congregation systems, networks of Catholic schools and Catholic schools in the Speak Up Research Project for Digital Learning.  Speak Up encourages students, teachers, parents and administrators to share their ideas about key educational issues. Participants will gain insights into their students' aspirations for using technology to learn, their teacher's aspirations for teaching with technology and their parents' thoughts on the issues through Speak Up.

What is Speak Up?

The Speak Up Research Project for Digital Learning, a national initiative of Project Tomorrow, is both a national research project and a free service to schools and districts everywhere. Since fall 2003, Speak Up has helped districts and schools include the voices of their students, teachers, administrators and parents in annual and long-term planning. More than 5.4 million participants have made Speak Up the largest collection of authentic, unfiltered stakeholder input on education, technology, schools of the future, STEM instruction, teacher PD, career exploration and more. NCEA is encouraging all Catholic educators to take advantage of Speak Up to gather valuable feedback data for strategic planning, funding proposals and school-to-home communications.

Who is Project Tomorrow?

Project Tomorrow is the nation’s leading education nonprofit group dedicated to ensuring that today’s K-12 students are well prepared to become tomorrow’s leaders, innovators and engaged citizens of the world. Project Tomorrow designs and implement landmark research on digital learning, school and community programs promoting innovation in science and math education, and advocacy efforts empowering the voices of K-12 stakeholders.

Why Should Your Catholic School Community Participate?

Arch/Dioceses, Networks, Systems  & Schools:    Speak Up is a free, tested tool to engage students, faculty, parents and community members in key discussions. The resulting stakeholder data informs instruction, professional development, purchased and more. Annual participation offers new and longitudinal data.

Students, Parents, Educators:   Ensure their voices are heard in their schools and in the national dialogue about technology use for learning and teaching as well as topics like STEM, safety, digital citizenship and more.

Catholic Schools Speak Up: November 5 - December 14

Although the online survey is open October 15, 2018 – January 31, 2019, Catholic school communities are asked to participate by December 31. NCEA encourages completion of the survey between November 5 and December 14. The survey is open to any school, arch/diocese, religious congregation system and network of Catholic schools. There is no fee to participate, or limit on the number of respondents. Speak Up takes less than 20 minutes to complete and all information is confidential.

Project Tomorrow and the National Catholic Education Association are working together to provide the Speak Up tools to more Catholic school leaders this year. Everything you need to get started is available online. Promote the Speak Up surveys to your students, parents and educators from November 2 through December 14.
