2024-2025 Data Collection

There are minor changes to the 2024-2025 data collection process:

  1. To reflect changes made for the Census Bureau by the U.S. Office of Management and Budget, the race reporting requirements have changed:
    •

Hispanic/Latino is now reported as a racial category. The ethnicity reporting question has been deleted.

    • Middle Eastern/North African has been added as a racial reporting category. Previously, those of Middle Eastern decent were included in the White reporting category.
  2. To reflect the increase in the interest in and the number of students with disabilities in Catholic schools, a detailed question asking for specific diagnosed disabilities was added and on the diocesan form, the number of schools with students with disabilities is now to be reported. The specific disability diagnoses asked about are:
    • Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
    • Autism Spectrum Disorder

    • Specific Learning Disability
    •
Intellectual or Development Disability
    •
Physical Disability
    •
Other
  3. To expand on the work of teacher retention in Catholic schools, two additional questions have been added:
    •

How many teachers are new to the school for the 2024-25 school year?

    • How many teachers are in their first year of teaching as a career in the 2024-25 school year?
  4. To reflect perceived trends in Catholic education, questions about whether a school is a microschool or a classical school have been added.

NCEA will continue to have the option to collect school and diocesan data through FACTS’ DART system. For schools not using FACTS, schools will continue to send their data to their diocese and dioceses will submit their data through Excel. When using the Excel form, please do not delete the individual rows on the “Elementary” and “Secondary” tabs. This will allow NCEA to create a longitudinal school-level database to better understand trends across the country. We appreciate your efforts in collecting this valuable data.

If you have more questions, please email the data and research team at [email protected].
