Thomas Moran, Champion of Catholic Education, Dies at Age 65

Mr. Moran received the National Catholic Educational Association Seton Award in 2012.

Arlington, VA – Today the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA) remembers the 2012 Seton Award honoree, Thomas Moran, as a fervent supporter of Catholic education and is saddened by his passing.

Mr. Moran worked for Mutual of America for 43 years serving as chief executive officer, president and, most recently, chairman of the board. Mr. Moran was a longtime ally of Catholic education and was well known as a generous philanthropist and volunteer, working with the Inner City Scholarship Fund, the Viscardi School, the Archdiocesan Finance Committee and the Archdiocese of New York Office of Catholic Schools. He also served as chairman of Concern Worldwide (U.S.) where he was witness to the good work performed around the world and was recognized for his humanitarian work in Northern Ireland, Haiti and Africa.
